1 WASHINGTON D.C. MEMORIAL STATUE


This 30 foot statue memorial, honoring Dr Martin Luther King, is the fourth memorial in Washington, DC to honor a non president and the first to honor a man of color. The memorial emerges from the boulders known as The Mountain of Despair. “Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.” a line from his “I Have A Dream” speech is carved into the memorial.


2 THE KING CENTER




Located in Atlanta, Georgia, is home to the Dr. MLK’s crypt, The Eternal Flame, which symbolizes the continuing effort to realize Dr. King’s dream, and Freedom Hall. It is also home to Dr. King’s Birth home, which is a National Historic Site, and the Historic Ebeneezer Baptist Church.


3 HOMAGE TO KING SCULPTURE



Located in Atlanta, the work portrays Martin Luther King, Jr. outstretching his arms. This symbolizes a welcome to those visiting the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site.

4 UNITED STATES CAPITOL (BUST OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.)



Displayed in the Capitol Rotunda since 1986, it is a 36 inch high bronze sculpture on a marble base. It serves to memorialize Dr King's contributions to civil rights. The sculptor, also an African American, was John Wilson. On December 21, 1982, Congress passed House Concurrent Resolution 153, which directed the procurement of the bust sculpture.





5 DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING "I HAVE A DREAM MONUMENT




Located in Denver, Colorado, this statue on a pedestal showcases Dr. MLK and four other historical figures in the Civil Rights Movement. At the middle of the pedestal you can see a statue of Rosa Parks, Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglas, and Mohandas K. Gandhi. At the base of the pedestal are bronze plaques with key and pivotal points in history.


6 NATIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS MUSEUM AND LORRAINE HOTEL



Located in Memphis,TN, this is the assassination site of the beloved civil rights leader. The museum was built around the rooms of the hotel, in which MLK was an occupant. After the April 4, 1968 assassination of King, the owner of the motel withdrew Room 306 (where King died) and room 307 from use.


7 PEACE GARDEN



Located in Fresno, California displays a statue of Dr. MLK, along with Mahatma Gandhi, Cesar Chavez, Jane Adams, and Nelson Mandela.


8 MARTIN LUTHER KING JR MEMORIAL PARK




Located in Seattle, Washington, it is designed around a black granite symbolizing a mountain. A thirty foot sculpture was inspired by Dr. MLK’s “ I’ve Been To The Mountaintop” speech, made the day before he was assassinated.


9 MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. EDUCATIONAL CAMPUS CUBE SCULPTURE




This sculpture is located in New York. The building was formerly the location of the named Martin Luther King Jr. High School which was closed in 2005.


10 Free At Last Sculpture



Located in Boston, this sculpture showcases 50 doves in flight. Each dove represents one of the fifty states. The sculpture is mounted on a square base inscribed with quotations from Martin Luther King Jr.


11'I HAVE A DREAM" SPEECH ETCHED INTO STEPS OF LINCOLN MEMORIAL


Located in Washinton, D.C. National Mall


12 YERBA BEUNO GARDENS MEMORIAL AND WATERFALL



Located in San Francisco, California, it has a dedication to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.


13 STATUE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING , JR.




Located in Austin, TX, on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin was installed with efforts from a student organization.

















14 LANDMARK FOR PEACE


Located in Indianapolis, Indiana this memorial was relative to Robert F. Kennedy and the speech he delivered about the assassination. It was a five minute statement informing the crowd of King's death and urging racial reconciliation.On April 4, 2018, the memorial was designated as the Kennedy-King National Commemorative Site.


15 THE DREAM SCULPTURE




The Dream, also known as the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Sculpture, is an outdoor bronze sculpture of Martin Luther King Jr. by Michael Florin Dente, located outside the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon.



16 MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. MEMORIAL



Located in Norfolk, Virginia, is made of granite and stands 83 feet high. The memorial, inscribed with quotations of Dr. King, serves as a constant reminder of the importance of including all citizens in the democratic process and the benefits derived from doing so.


17 MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. MEMORIAL BRIDGE


Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the bridge features twenty five plaques with quotes from Martin Luther King Jr., sculptural etchings, a 50 foot arch, pedestrian seating and lighting that displays different shades of illumination.


18 BUST OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.


These are located in the oval office of the White House and the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.


19 BROWN CHAPEL A.M.E. CHURCH




Located on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Selma, Alabama, this was the starting point for the Selma to Montgomery marches in 1965. It also served as a meeting place for Southern Christian Leadership Conference during Selma movement.





20 FREEDOM RING BELL



Located in Stone Mountain, Ga is dedicated to Dr. King and commemorates his “I Have A Dream” speech. The plaque on the memorial reads The Freedom Bell “Let Freedom Ring from Stone Mountain, Georgia.”
